Meet Your Professional Dog Trainer

I'm an absolute animal lover. Growing up with land we have always enjoyed horses, cats, dogs, chooks, sheep and goats.

If there was ever an injured bird I'd be the one to find it and ensure it was nursed back to health or passed on to the relevant person to help.

I actually considered studying to be a vet after I left school, but realised there is too much loss and hard conversations to have regularly that it would be something personally I could sustain.

Now is the perfect time for me to step back into my first love, being with dogs, training them into healthy habits and helping their owners with any problems that may have arisen.

Throughout my teenage years, I had a kelpie-X-dingo, “Chief”, who I still believe is my spirit dog. Chief could do dozens of tricks and commands, and if you asked me how I trained him? It just happened. Telepathy!

Fostering dogs of all shapes and sizes for many years through local rescue groups was always rewarding. Yes, it could be hard to say goodbye, but seeing them finally go to their forever homes was incredibly rewarding.

A few years ago, I made a career change from a Monday-to-Friday office job and established Everyday Dog Training. I'm a Dog person, but I'm also a People person, I make sure when we're training dogs it's not just me training, but a joint effort.

My goal is for your dog to continue to perform as trained when under your supervision as owner, and that comes from the owner understanding the “how” and “why” of behaviour.

I formalised my craft and gained certification in dog behaviour and training through the National Dog Training Federation (NDTF). I continually develop myself as a trainer, attending workshops and seminars wherever possible, you can never know enough.

What The Everyday Dog Trainer offers isn't anything too fancy. I'm not training for competition heels or agility, I'm training the everyday backyard dog to have appropriate behaviours and just be a joy to be around, so you can confidently take your dog anywhere, anytime.

I get a thrill out of helping owners finally enjoy walks with their dogs, take them to a café or hit the beach, and I also love the challenge of trick training.

Training the dog is only 50% of the problem. When it comes to training you, the owners, I make the learning experience fun and relevant.

My goal is to coach and educate you so that when I'm not around, you can keep training and developing your dog for life.
